Copper(I) chloride is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CuCl. It appears as white cubic crystals or a white powder, insoluble in water, soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid to form copper(I) chloroarsenite, and soluble in ammonia water to form tetraam mine copper(I) chloride. It is not soluble in ethanol. Copper(I) chloride is used as a catalyst, fungicide, mordant, and decolorizer; in the metallurgical industry; and for the determination of carbon monoxide and acetylene in gas analysis.

Properties: White cubic crystal or white powder, as shown in the figure. The relative density is 4.14. Melting point 430ºC. Boiling point 1490ºC. Insoluble in water, water-soluble: 0.06g /L (25ºC), soluble in ammonia to produce diamine cuprous chloride, soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid to produce chloro-cuprous acid, but also soluble in sodium thiosulfate solution, NaCl solution and KCl solution to produce the corresponding complex, insoluble in ethanol.
